From one classic last week to another this week in the Supa Swap book blog, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
This book is even older than last weeks being published in 1902. The author Beatrix Potter is a Legend in the world of children´s stories.
When I was a child my parents and friends would often buy me Beatrix Potter books for presents until I had the whole set.
The tale of Peter Rabbit is a lovely story about a naughty rabbit called Peter who disobeys his mother and goes into Mr McGregor´s garden to eat his vegetables.
Of so its not a cliff hanger of a story but it has a complete innocence that children should all experience. They grow up too fast today.

Today I wanted to look at another classic book. CS Lewis The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.
This book, although the first to be written in the series of books called the Chronicles of Narnia is should be read second in order after The Magicians Nephew.
The book is about four children who find their way into the secret world of Narnia through the back of a Wardrobe. While there they come across a Lion called Aslan who represents good and the White Witch who represents evil.
Yes in reality this is a good verses evil story but many believe that it has links back to the story of the life of Jesus even with its own resurrection.
This is an absolute classic book and has recently been transformed into an amazing film. This book may have been written in 1950 but it is still a brilliant book for today. Supa Swap rating of 9 out of 10
The internet is very popular and rightly so, but there is one draw back. the internet can include anything and there are no editors to make sure the information is correct.
Books are still one of the few resources for research that can be relied upon to contain correct information.
So if you are looking to do research, I am not suggesting that you do not use the internet, but leaf through a book now and again as well.
The English language is suffering a great deal of attack at the moment. From the internet, texting and just general poor usage. It is very important that children understand the importance of their mother language.
There are many dictionaries to choose from out there but I always gravitate back to the OED, The Oxford English Dictionary. It comes in various shapes and sizes and has always been the industry standard.
So if you are looking for something to get your child when they start school this September, why not a dictionary, a worthy tool in his arsenal.
